RDC Glasscasting Workshops

This is a unique opportunity to study with the internationally acclaimed artist Sallie Portnoy. Take home a wealth of knowledge and have a fabulous time getting the creative juices flowing. The workshop will take students on an intensive journey into the possibilities of kiln cast glass. Sallie will demystify the casting process by teaching how to model and form positives in clay to make simple open plaster/silica moulds. Properties of melting different sizes of fritted glass & color combining will be explained as well as basic sculptural design theory. The use of Gel-Flex Rubber will also be demonstrated to make copies and multiples. Three to eight pieces will be cast depending on size. Cold working techniques will also taught.
